Key takeaways

  • Wellful, the owner of Nutrisystem, acquired the Jenny Craig brand on July 5, 2023 and relaunched it as an online, delivery-based program.[1]
  • A two-week Jenny Craig Program shipment contains 14 breakfasts, 28 lunches or dinners and 14 snacks and desserts.[4]
  • In a 2010 JAMA trial of the earlier program, women lost 7.9% (center-based) or 6.8% (telephone) of their weight at two years vs 2.1% with usual care.[7]
  • A 2015 review found Jenny Craig gave at least 4.9% more weight loss than control at 12 months.[8]

In short: Jenny Craig still exists, but not as the chain of weight-loss centers many people remember. The original company closed in 2023, and Wellful, Inc., the owner of Nutrisystem, bought the brand on July 5, 2023 and relaunched it online. Today Jenny Craig sells prepared meals delivered every two weeks, with virtual coaching and an intermittent-fasting option, and its meals are all under 300 calories (company site as captured on 2026-09-26). Older research on the in-person program was positive, but the current online version has not been studied in its own trials.

InstaTuck does not sell Jenny Craig and this page has no affiliate links. It is information to help you decide. Before you change how you eat this much, talk with a licensed doctor or registered dietitian and get checked, especially if you have diabetes, kidney disease or take several medicines.

Is Jenny Craig still in business? The current status

What happened to Jenny Craig

  1. Spring 2023The original Jenny Craig business closes; Nutrisystem refers to "the recent news of Jenny Craig's closure" in a May 11, 2023 release.
  2. July 5, 2023Wellful, Inc. announces it has acquired the Jenny Craig brand and will bring it back with direct-to-consumer delivery and personalized coaching.
  3. RelaunchJenny Craig returns as an online brand, managed separately from Nutrisystem within Wellful.
  4. 2026The site sells meal plans, the Jenny Craig Program and Club Jenny; Nutrisystem's homepage says it is "bringing together Nutrisystem and Jenny Craig".

In short, the brand, the recipes and the idea of a structured food plan with a coach continue, but there are no centers to visit and coaching is virtual. The Jenny Craig trademarks are now owned by JCR Holdings II, LLC, according to the site’s footer. Because the business changed so much, reviews and studies from before 2023 describe a different service.

How Jenny Craig works now

The site offered three ways to buy on its September 26, 2026 homepage:

  • Jenny Craig Program: “a simple, science-based plan with all meals provided”. Every two-week shipment includes 14 breakfasts, 28 lunches or dinners and 14 snacks and desserts, plus bars, free home delivery and one-to-one coaching (program page, June 2026).
  • Meal Delivery Plans: two-week shipments of 14 breakfasts and 14 entrées, with options to add 14 desserts or 14 shakes for $25 more a week (meal delivery page, June 2026). You cook or buy the rest of your food.
  • Club Jenny: a subscription that gives access to the full menu, coaching and resources, with no minimum order and a flat $20 shipping charge per order, and 10% off orders on Auto-Ship (homepage FAQ, September 2026).

The intermittent fasting approach and the bars

Jenny Craig’s menu offers an intermittent-fasting style of the plan. The company describes its Recharge Bars (nut and honey) as helping curb hunger and “excellent for an intermittent fasting approach”, and says the alternative Anytime Bar (chocolate peanut butter with protein and fiber) is for a non-fasting plan and is not needed to follow a fasting schedule. Intermittent fasting is one way to organize a lower-calorie week, not a requirement for weight loss. Our intermittent fasting guide explains the evidence and who should be careful, including people taking diabetes medicines and anyone with a history of disordered eating.

Coaching

The company says coaching is available with all Jenny Craig plans and with Club Jenny, and the program page lists one-to-one coaching from “a team of dedicated personal coaches”. The site does not describe the coaches’ qualifications. Ask whether you will speak with a registered dietitian, how often you can talk, and whether coaching continues if you pause deliveries. Jenny Craig does not offer prescribing or medical care. If you are considering medication, see our medical weight loss guide.

What the research shows

Jenny Craig had some of the best evidence of any commercial program, but almost all of it comes from the old, center-based model:

  • JAMA randomized trial (2010): 442 women aged 18 to 69 with a BMI of 25 to 40 were assigned to free Jenny Craig with in-person counseling at a center, the same program by telephone, or usual care (two sessions with a dietetics professional and monthly contact). After two years, average weight loss was 7.9% (center-based), 6.8% (telephone) and 2.1% (usual care). The program included prepackaged food in the weight-loss phase. Weight data were available for 92% of women at two years.
  • Systematic review (2015): across trials, Jenny Craig produced at least 4.9% more weight loss at 12 months than control, education or counseling, the largest effect among the commercial programs with 12-month data. The authors said clinicians could consider referring patients to Jenny Craig or WeightWatchers.

The telephone result is the closest to today’s remote model, which is encouraging, but the current program is a different service with different food, prices and coaching, and it has not been tested in its own published trial. The company’s own claims, such as “lose up to 24 lbs in your first 8 weeks” and that “4 out of 5 people agree Jenny Craig is the most effective weight loss plan they’ve tried” (a December 2024 survey of 542 customers), are marketing statements. Its success stories note that people were compensated and that the expected average loss is 1 to 2 pounds a week.

What it costs

Jenny Craig’s site could not be read directly on 2026-10-06 (it blocks automated access), and its plan prices load inside the page, so we could not record full current prices. What we could confirm from captures of the company’s own pages:

  • September 26, 2026 homepage: $50 off plus free shipping for new customers with a promo code; extra 10% off each shipment when paying for two shipments, 15% when paying for four. Club Jenny: first month free (shown as a $12.99 value) and 25% off meals and snacks on a first Auto-Ship order of $100 or more, then 10% off later Auto-Ship orders; flat $20 shipping per order otherwise.
  • June 2026 plan pages: examples shown with promo codes were $150.00 a week for the Jenny Craig Program and $70.00 a week for the breakfast and entrée meal plan. Treat these only as a rough guide; confirm the full price at checkout.

Remember to add the groceries you buy yourself, and that offers apply to the first order only. Our costs hub puts program prices side by side.

Auto-Ship and canceling

Plan offers are tied to Auto-Ship: “you are automatically charged and your plan is shipped once every 2 weeks unless you cancel”. You receive a notice before each shipment, and you can manage upcoming orders in your account. Before ordering, check the cut-off time for changing or canceling the next shipment and whether canceling early means repaying a first-order discount (as it does at sister brand Nutrisystem). Orders ship within the contiguous United States and parts of Canada; Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, PO boxes and military addresses are excluded.

Who it may suit

Jenny Craig may suit adults who want portion control without cooking, live in the contiguous U.S., like the idea of a coach and are fine with frozen, prepared food. It may suit less well people on a tight budget, families who eat together, people with food allergies or special diets (check every label), and anyone who wants in-person support. The key long-term question is how you will eat after the deliveries stop: the 2010 trial included a maintenance phase, and our keep it off hub explains why that stage matters.
