In short: Ro is a U.S. telehealth company whose weight-loss service, the Ro Body membership, connects you online with Ro-affiliated providers who may prescribe FDA-approved GLP-1 medications such as Wegovy, Zepbound or Foundayo if they find them appropriate. The membership was $39 for the first month and then $149 a month, or as low as $74 a month with an annual prepay, and medication costs extra (Ro’s weight-loss page as captured on 2026-10-03). Ro also helps members check insurance coverage and handle prior authorization.
This page is information only: InstaTuck does not sell Ro memberships and there are no affiliate links here. A prescription medication is a medical decision. Research it, talk with a licensed doctor and get evaluated, ideally including your own primary care doctor, before you start.

What Ro is
Ro is a direct-to-patient health company, operating since 2017, that offers online care for several conditions, including weight, sexual health, hair loss and fertility. It describes itself as offering nationwide telehealth, labs and pharmacy services. For weight, the service is called the Ro Body membership. Ro has worked with Novo Nordisk since April 2025 on direct-to-patient access to Wegovy, added Eli Lilly’s Foundayo pill in April 2026, and its weight-loss page now marks the Zepbound KwikPen as new.
Ro is a prescribing service, not a diet or coaching program in the style of WeightWatchers or Noom, although the membership includes one-to-one health coaching. Think of it as an online clinic focused on medication, insurance paperwork and follow-up.
How it works, step by step
Ro's five steps, as Ro describes them
- Online visitAnswer questions about your health and goals; Ro says you find out within 2 days whether you are eligible.
- Prescription if appropriateA provider reviews your information and prescribes a GLP-1 if eligible.
- Insurance checkRo checks your coverage and its insurance concierge submits prior authorization paperwork; about 2-3 weeks.
- Start treatmentCash-pay medication ships to your door (first dose in under a week); insured medication is picked up at your pharmacy.
- Ongoing supportCheck-ins, messaging with your care team, dose and side-effect support.
An online questionnaire cannot replace a full medical history and, where needed, an examination and lab tests. Before you start, make sure the provider knows every medicine and supplement you take, any history of pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney problems, diabetic eye disease, depression or eating disorders, and whether you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy. Ask who to contact for urgent side effects at night or on weekends. Our telehealth weight-loss guide has a full checklist.
Medications Ro may prescribe
Ro’s weight-loss page (captured 2026-10-03) described “a full suite of FDA-approved GLP-1s” and listed these options. It did not list any compounded GLP-1 products.
- Wegovy pill (semaglutide tablets), cash pay only through Ro.
- Wegovy pen, insurance or cash pay.
- Zepbound (tirzepatide): the KwikPen (cash pay only through Ro), the single-dose pen (insurance or cash) and single-dose vials (cash).
- Foundayo (orforglipron) pill, cash pay only through Ro.
- Ozempic, which Ro notes is FDA approved for type 2 diabetes and may be prescribed off-label for weight at a provider’s discretion. Saxenda also appeared in Ro’s menu.
Ro’s page repeats the FDA-labeled safety basics: GLP-1 medications may have serious side effects, including possible thyroid tumors, and should not be used by people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) or MEN 2. The most commonly reported side effects it lists are nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, stomach pain, constipation and diarrhea. The Wegovy label also warns about pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, low blood sugar with some diabetes medicines, kidney injury from dehydration, allergic reactions, diabetic eye complications, faster heart rate and breathing food or liquid into the lungs during anesthesia or sedation. Read our GLP-1 side effects guide and the GLP-1 overview.

What is included in the Ro Body membership
- Access to FDA-approved GLP-1 medications, if prescribed, and ongoing check-ins with a Ro-affiliated provider.
- A dedicated insurance concierge and prior authorization help.
- Unlimited provider messaging, side-effect management and titration (dose increase) support.
- Weight tracking, dose logging and one-to-one health coaching.
- Medication shipments to your door for cash-pay prescriptions.
Ro’s pages focus on medication. If you want structured nutrition and activity support on top, combine it with a registered dietitian or a program, and read our guides to eating on a GLP-1 and protecting muscle. Protein and strength training help keep muscle while you lose weight; the protein calculator gives a starting range.
What it costs (dated)
Ro’s own site could not be read automatically on 2026-10-06 (it shows a security check), so the membership prices below come from Ro’s weight-loss page as captured by the Internet Archive on 2026-10-03, and the medication prices from the manufacturers’ own self-pay pages, checked 2026-10-06. Confirm both on Ro’s site before you pay.
Medication prices depend on the drug, the dose and insurance. Ro advertised “Prepay and Save” plans for Wegovy: in March 2026 it announced 3-, 6- and 12-month prepaid plans that it said save cash-paying patients up to $1,200 a year on the Wegovy pen or $600 a year on the pill. In April 2026 Ro said Foundayo starts at $149 a month for the lowest dose, plus the membership. For comparison, these are the manufacturers’ own monthly self-pay prices on 2026-10-06:
| Item | Low | High |
|---|---|---|
| Wegovy pill (1.5 to 25 mg) | $149 USD | $299 USD |
| Foundayo pill (0.8 to 17.2 mg, regular prices) | $149 USD | $349 USD |
| Wegovy pen (0.25 to 2.4 mg; HD $399) | $349 USD | $399 USD |
| Zepbound KwikPen (2.5 to 15 mg) | $299 USD | $449 USD |
Wegovy pen intro offer $199 for the first two fills of 0.25 and 0.5 mg through Dec 31, 2026. Zepbound 7.5 mg and up $449 if refilled within 45 days. Foundayo 2.5 mg $149 and 5.5 mg $199 through Dec 31, 2026.

If you have commercial insurance that covers these drugs, the manufacturers’ savings cards may lower the copay to as little as $25 for eligible people (government insurance excluded). If you have Medicare, the CMS Medicare GLP-1 Bridge (July 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027) covers Wegovy, Zepbound and Foundayo for weight management with a $50 copay for those who qualify; ask Ro whether its membership fee still applies. Our GLP-1 coverage guide, Zepbound cost page and GLP-1 cost tool help you compare.
Getting ready for an online visit
An online clinician can only work with the information you give. Having it ready makes the visit safer and faster, whichever program you use:
- Your numbers: current weight, height and, if you have them, a recent blood pressure reading and waist measurement. The BMI calculator shows where you stand, but it is not a diagnosis.
- Recent lab results from your own doctor, such as blood sugar (A1C), kidney function and cholesterol, if you have them.
- A full medicine list, including insulin or other diabetes medicines, blood pressure pills, birth control pills (the Zepbound label advises a non-oral or backup method for 4 weeks after starting and after each dose increase), supplements and anything you take only now and then.
- Your history: any pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney disease, diabetic eye disease, thyroid cancer in you or your family, depression, eating disorders, and past weight-loss medicines and how they went.
- Pregnancy plans: say if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive.
- Your insurance card, if you want Ro to check coverage.
Ro or your own doctor?
Many people can get the same FDA-approved medicines from their own primary care doctor or an obesity medicine specialist, often without a separate monthly membership, and with in-person exams and labs in the same place. The manufacturers also sell several brands directly to cash-paying patients with any valid prescription, at the prices shown above. What Ro adds is speed, convenience, home delivery and someone to handle insurance paperwork. Weigh the $74 to $149 a month membership against those services. If you use Ro, ask for visit notes you can share with your own doctor so your care stays in one picture.
One more point about Ozempic: it is approved for type 2 diabetes, not weight management, so prescribing it for weight alone is off-label, and insurers that cover it for diabetes may not cover it for weight. The brand made for weight is Wegovy, which contains the same ingredient at different doses; our semaglutide page explains the difference.
Cancellation and refunds
Ro links to a “Returns and Refunds” policy and its terms from the footer of its site, but we could not read them on 2026-10-06. Before you prepay for an annual membership or a multi-month medication plan, ask Ro in writing: whether the membership renews automatically, how to cancel, whether unused prepaid months are refunded, and what happens to medication already shipped. Prescription medicines generally cannot be returned once dispensed.
What the evidence and Ro’s own data say
The effectiveness of the medicines comes from their FDA-reviewed trials, summarized above. Evidence about Ro as a care model is newer. Ro’s page cites a survey of 1,243 members taking a GLP-1 for at least seven weeks, in which 97% reported quieter “food noise”; a survey of current members is not a controlled study. In September 2026 Ro and Novo Nordisk announced a research collaboration and presented a first real-world study at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes meeting, looking at patients who switched from an injectable GLP-1 to the Wegovy pill; more results are planned for ObesityWeek in November 2026. Ro also notes that the members in its advertising were paid for their testimonials.
Who it may suit, and who should check first
Ro may suit adults who, with a clinician, have decided to consider an FDA-approved GLP-1, want help with insurance paperwork and prefer online visits and home delivery. It is less suited to people who want an eating plan or group program, need in-person care for complex conditions, or do not want a monthly membership on top of medication costs. People with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2, a history of pancreatitis, or who are pregnant should talk with their own doctor first, because these medicines are not appropriate for everyone.
Alternatives to compare
- Hims and Hers: a similar telehealth model with a similar membership price.
- WeightWatchers Med+ and Noom Med: prescribing attached to a behavior program.
- Your own doctor, a weight-loss clinic or an obesity medicine specialist, often without a separate membership fee.
- Buying directly from the manufacturers’ self-pay pharmacies with a prescription from your own clinician.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Ro weight loss cost?
Ro listed the Ro Body membership at $39 for the first month, then $149 a month, or as low as $74 a month with an annual prepay (captured 2026-10-03). Medication is extra and depends on the drug, dose and insurance.
Does Ro prescribe compounded semaglutide?
Ro's weight-loss page described its options as FDA-approved GLP-1s and listed no compounded products (captured 2026-10-03). Ask Ro to confirm what would be dispensed.
Can Ro use my insurance?
Ro says its insurance concierge checks coverage and handles prior authorization, which takes about 2-3 weeks. Some products, such as the Wegovy pill, Foundayo and the Zepbound KwikPen, were cash pay only through Ro.
Is Ro legit?
Ro is an established U.S. telehealth company that works directly with Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly products. As with any online prescriber, confirm your provider's license and keep your own doctor informed.
How fast can I start?
Ro says you learn about eligibility within 2 days; cash-pay medication can arrive in under a week, and the insurance route takes about two weeks or more.
Does the Ro Body membership include the medication?
No. The membership covers provider care, coaching and insurance support; medication is billed separately through insurance or cash pay.
Can I use Medicare with Ro?
Medicare's GLP-1 Bridge (July 2026 to December 2027) covers some GLP-1s for weight with a $50 copay for eligible people. Ask Ro whether it supports the Bridge and whether its membership fee still applies.
What side effects should I expect?
The most common are digestive: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and stomach pain. Serious risks are listed on each FDA label; contact a clinician urgently for severe stomach pain, persistent vomiting or signs of an allergic reaction.
